Thessaloniki: 9th International Festival

Thessaloniki, a seaside town whose history dates back more than 2300 years, is located in northern Greece; it is the second largest city in terms of population. It is a major economic, industrial and political center and a major transport hub for the rest of South East Europe with its airport and commercial port.
The pleasant Mediterranean climate and the hospitality of the inhabitants of this historic city guarantee you an unforgettable stay.
Thessaloniki offers a particular archaeological and cultural interest. The choirs can thus combine their participation in the Festival with the visit of the historical monuments of the city and the surroundings.

The International Festival of Musical Comedy Choirs is an innovative idea of the President and members of the Korais Choir Council in their quest to enhance the vocal color and performance of a choir. The Musical Comedy combines words, music, movement and the technical aspects of animation through famous films and musical performances performed in European and American theaters.

The Festival is dedicated to Peace, Friendship, Fraternity and the Entente between Peoples.

Program 4 days / 3 nights

Day 1 – Friday, April 27th: THESSALONIKI

Arrival of choirs and assistance at airport or at hotel in Thessaloniki by an English or French speaking assistance (upon request),
Local coach transfer included from the airport to your hotel.
Free lunch.
20:00-22:30: Choral concert with repertoire of musicals.
Free program for any choir not presenting songs from a musical).
Ceremony in the Aristotelian University in Thessaloniki.
Dinner at the hotel or at a nearby restaurant. (3 courses, drinks NOT incl.)
Night at the hotel.

Day 2 – Saturday, April 28th: THESSALONIKI

Breakfast at the hotel.
In the morning, guided walking tour of Thessaloniki and its ancient monuments. WITHOUT entries included.
Free lunch.
11h30-14h00: meeting of the choirs on the archaeological site of the Odeon in the zone of the Roman Agora.
Official opening of the Festival – Concert with the participation of all the choirs.
Dinner at the hotel in a nearby restaurant (3 courses, drinks NOT included)
20:00 to 22:30. Choir concert. Ceremony in the Aristotelian University in Thessaloniki.
Night at the hotel

Day 3 – Sunday, April 29th: THESSALONIKI

Breakfast at the hotel.
11h00-13h30: Concert of choirs with repertoire of musicals (duration: 20 minutes maximum, including 5 pieces including at least 3 from musicals) The other 2 are free program related to the theme of the Festival pop music, jazz, film music).
Free program for any choir not presenting songs from a musical.
Ceremony in the Aristotelian University in Thessaloniki.
Free lunch.
20h00-22h30: Choir concert. Ceremony in the Aristotelian University in Thessaloniki.
End of the Festival Gala evening – traditional Greek festive buffet for all the choirs participating in the Festival (drinks included)
Night at the hotel.

Day4 – Monday, April 30th: THESSALONIKI

Breakfast at the hotel.
Local coach transfer from the hotel to the airport.
Departure of the choirs and return in your city of origin.
