EXCLUSIVE DESTINATIONS CHOEURS!

Skyros is the largest and most isolated island in the Sporades archipelago, located in the Aegean between mainland Greece and Turkey. According to Greek mythology, Thetis, Achilles’ mother sent her son to the island of Skyros so that he would not take part in the war of Troyes because a prophecy foresaw his death. With more than 3,000 inhabitants, the island of Skyros is renowned for agriculture, fishing, embroidery, ceramics and the production of handicrafts made of wood. Honey, dried fruits and cheeses complete the list. Archaeological sites are essential and several Byzantine art buildings are also to be visited.

Most part of the island is mountainous and the climate is cool in summer, mild in winter with little rain. The capital, Skyros or Chora, is located on the East coast 10 km from the main port Linaria in the middle of the west side. Pines, cypresses, olive trees and many other plant species cover the hills. The pretty, whitewashed town is perched on a hill at the top of which is a Venetian fortress, ideally situated to watch over the eastern Aegean Sea. Like the neighboring islands to the north, Skyros boasts a beautiful coastline and many idyllic beaches.
You will be seduced by the atmosphere of this island, its landscapes and its beaches as well as its museum of archeology and its monuments. You will appreciate the Greek traditions and the welcome of the inhabitants of Skyros.
