Salzbourg: “Cantus Music & Meet Mozart”

Salzburg is by far the best town for Festivals, with well-known events throughout the year. Hometown of Mozart, we offer the possibility of participating in both Festivals “Cantus Music & Culture” and “Meet Mozart”. The monuments of Salzburg, the Hohensalzburg fortress, the baroque residence, the cathedral and the historical town center, classified by Unesco as World Cultural Heritage site in 1997, provide a magical setting and backdrop for a choir assembly. The festival will take place in the main hall of the Stiftung Mozarteum (foundation Mozart) and is open to any type of choir – folk dance with music, orchestras of any kind, Jazz, fanfares … The song choice is open & up to you
. Enjoy a really special atmosphere of this international festival and let yourself be charmed by the beauty of the Baroque town of Salzburg.

Program 4  dats / 3 nights

Day 1 – SALZBURG

Arrival and check in to your hotel rooms. Welcome & assistance provided by an English speaking member of staff.
In the evening, the opening ceremony of the Choral and Music Festival, will take place in the restaurant “Stieglkeller” (a traditional restaurant at the foot of the Hohensalzburg fortress.)
Presentation of each choir group followed by a typical Austrian meal & the chance to get to know the Festival’s artistic director.
Overnight at hotel.

Day 2 – SALZBURG

Breakfast.
In the morning, meet a local speaking guide for a walking tour of the old town of Salzburg (2h30)
Lunch at the restaurant.
In the afternoon, rehearsals with all the participants of the Festival (Music, dance, orchestras and choirs) in the Mozarteum hall: preparation of the festive concert.
Early dinner in a restaurant.
In the evening, the International Festival “Cantus Music & Culture” and “Meeting with Mozart” will take place in the main hall of the Mozarteum in Salzburg. At the end of the Concert all groups will sing together “chant de la Paix” (any profits made from the concerts will be will be given to charity)
Overnight at hotel.

Day 3 – SALZBURG

Breakfast.
In the morning we meet all the choir groups in front of the Salzburg Cathedral for a rehearsal.
Followed by a celebration of an Ecumenical Mass and musical presentation by the bands in the cathedral of Salzburg.
Lunch at the restaurant.
In the afternoon, outdoor concerts in one of the squares or in the Mirabell garden in Salzburg.
Optional: guided tour of the province of Salzburg to the lakes (where they filmed the “Sound of Music” movie). Visit the Hellbrunn Palace and then continue to Lake Fuschlsee to the town of Saint Gilden. At the end of the tour a visit of the Leopoldskron Castle (where scenes from the film “Sound of Music” were shot) Possibility for the choirs to sing acapella together.

Farewell evening and closure of the Festival in the restaurant “Stiegl Keller” at the foot of the Hohensalzurg fortress with a buffet dinner and music.
Presentation of the certificate of participation to all who took part in the festival.
Overnight at hotel.

Day 4 – SALZBURG – Back home

Breakfast and departure or possibility of extension.

End of services.
