22nd Choral and Music Festival in Montecatini Terme in Tuscany

For a few years now, the Festival of Montecatini Terme in Tuscany is open not only to amateur choirs but also to music groups: the organizers want to give a new boost at this festival with this nice association between choirs and music groups. The organizers will reward the best choir with a certificate from the Academy of “Maggio Musicale Fiorentino”. The musicians of the “Maggio Musicale Fiorentino” will present their concert at the opening of the festival. A closing dinner will be organized in a typical restaurant located in the surroundings of Montecatini.

Get ready for this beautiful Festival and the exchanges between participants ensuring strong emotions!

Program 4 days / 3 nights

16/19 June 2022

Day 1 – MONTECATINI TERME

Arrival in Montecatini Terme, welcome at hotel.
Accommodation and dinner at hotel.
Evening, official Opening of the Festival: departure from hotel to torchlight retreat to the Tettuccio thermal garden. Welcome by the official representatives of the city of Montecatini Terme and the organizers of the festival. All the choirs and musical groups will attend the opening concert of the prestigious musicians of the « Maggio Musicale Fiorentino ».
Return to hotel on foot.
Overnight at hotel.

Day 2 – MONTECATINI TERME

Breakfast at hotel.
Choirs will be split into 2 groups (defined by the organizers).

• Group 1 program:

Morning, concert by choirs and musical groups, given at the bandstand in the Tettucio thermal garden (15 minutes including entry and exit from the stage).
Free lunchtime.

Afternoon, excursion to Pisa or Lucques, at your choice with a guided tour with supplement.
In Pisa, you will be impressed by the cathedral, the Baptistery and the famous leaning tower of Pisa.
In Lucques, you will explore this nice surrounded by its ramparts, with the narrow streets and picturesque « piazza ».
NOTA: these visits are free WITHOUT local guide. If you need a guide, do not hesitate to ask us.

Back to Florence and your hotel.

• Group 2 Program:

Full day excursion (by coach or train) to Florence, pearl of the Italian Renaissance.
Morning, guided walking visit: Piazza del « Duomo » with its magnificient cathedral in white, green and rose marble, the Baptistery and its three bronze gates, the Campanile of Giotto, Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio and Ponte Vecchio… (Guided visite: nearly 2h30)
Afternoon, each choir will be able to sing on one of the places of Forence (Duration: 25 minutes), then free time for your own discovery.
Back to hotel by the end of the afternoon.

• Both groups:

Dinner at hotel.
Evening, outdoor concert for choirs and musical groups on Piazza del Poppolo in Montecatini (Duration: 15 minutes per group) ot similar in Montecatini Terme. The representatives of « Maggio Musicale Fiorentino » will select the best group of the Festival.
Overnight at hotel.

Day 3 – MONTECATINI TERME

Breakfast at hotel.

• Group 1 program:

Full day excursion in Florence (Same program as upper mentioned)

• Group 2 program:

Morning, Choral Concert in Tettucio.

Free lunchtime.

Afternoon, free excursion to Pisa ot Lucques. (Same program as upper mentioned)

• Both groups :

Evening, Closing Ceremony gathering all choirs and musical groups, including a dinner in a typical restaurant, with the official members of the city. Each group will receive a participation certificat. A spécial one will be  awarded to the best choir, attribuated by « Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Accademia ». At the end of the evening, choirs will sing all together « O Signore, dal tetto natio » of Verdi. Back to hotel.
Overnight at hotel.

Day 4 – MONTECATINI TERME – Back home

Breakfast. Check-out and back home.

End of our services.
Before departure, if you want, you are invited to sing in a Mass in one of the churches of Montecatini Terme.

Standard program, which may be subject to modification by the organizers.

Possibility of extending the stay with additional nights, excursion to Siena or Pescia, meet a local choir for a friendly concert.
