International Advent choir festival in Vienna, Austria – 28.11.-02.12.2024 // 05/09.12.2024 // 12/16.12.2024 // 19/23.12.2024

Vienna, artistic city by definition and birthplace of Johan Strauss was also the place of residence of other equally famous composers (Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert…) The city jealously preserves this musical and cultural heritage with its masterpieces of baroque architecture.

The festival, which has been running for 30 years, is open to all non-professional groups and will enable you to meet international choirs and sing in front of an enthusiastic audience in four different venues.

Program 5 days / 4 nights

Day 1 – Thursday

Arrival in Vienna. Meet your local assistance at hotel.

Dinner  at hotel or at restaurant.

Overnight.

Day – Friday

Breakfast.

Morning, guided walking visit of Vienna.

Lunchtime at Restaurant “Rathauskeller” located in the Town Hall of Vienna.

Possibility of giving a concert in a retirement home in the afternoon (On request).

Free evening in Vienna; take the opportunity to visit one of the many traditional outdoor Christmas Markets.

Dinner. Overnight.

Day 3 – Saturday

Breakfast.

Free morning to explore Vienna or buying your Chritmas gifts.

Free lunchtime.

The Festival Concert series starts in the Vienna City Hall in the afternoon where choirs of different nationalities will present their own programme (duration: 30 minutes per choir) and share their music with the Viennese audience.

In the evening, dinner in a traditional Heurigen (wine tavern) in the wine village of Gumpoldskirchen near Vienna (including a typical dish of sausages, pork, chicken, Sauerkraut, cold salads, bread and ONE glass of wine per person)

Return to the hotel by your own means.

Overnight.

Please note: a coach is required for the evening in Gumpoldskirchen.

Day 4 – Sunday

Breakfast.

You can attend a morning mass in one of Vienna’s churches (on request)

Lunch at leisure.

Free time in the afternoon – possibility to listen to other choirs in the City Hall. Enjoy the Christmas markets.

Dinner at leisure.

Closing evening in the Vienna City Hall for all choirs. Certificates of participation will be given to each choir director. Afterwards, all choirs will join together to sing the common song “Ode to Joy” by L.V. Beethoven.

The evening ends with a small buffet (canapés and a glass of sparkling wine)

Return to your hotel by your own means.

Overnight at hotel.

Day 5 – Monday – Back home

Breakfast.

End of our services and back home.

This programme is subject to change according to the choices and requirements of the organisation.

Please note that this festival is very popular and that registrations are usually very quick, especially for the first two weekends.
