The Young2023bohemia Festival and Competition held in Prague since 19 editions, has become an essential event for training young people aged 8 to 26 from all over the world. Prague is the perfect setting for this cultural and friendly encounter in a serene atmosphere and a unique setting. Participants will have the opportunity to present their program, meet and sing with other young people and enjoy the beauty of Prague. The festival offers public concerts and a competition. You choose to perform as part of the festival or competition.

Public concerts: Participants, choirs, orchestras and other musical ensembles (even non-traditional ones) will have one or two performances; they will also learn and rehearse a joint composition for a concert bringing together all the participants.

 

Competition :

The orchestra competition offers 5 categories:

a) brass/wind bands

b) symphony and string orchestras

c) Jazz orchestras

d) folk music (music or music + song)

e) Pop and others

The competition for choirs offers 5 categories:

a) mixed choirs

b) boys’/young men’s choirs

c) girl choirs

d) children’s choirs

e) Negro Spiritual/Gospel/Jazz/Pop.

In the categories mixed choirs, boys’/young men’s choirs, girls’ choirs and children’s choirs, a composition by a Czech composer is obligatory. A detailed information file as well as the conditions of registration will be sent by e-mail upon receipt of the preliminary registration form.

 

Program:

Thursday 23.03.2023

Arrival of choirs and musical ensembles. Installation in the rooms. Having dinner. Night.

 

Friday 24.03.2023

Breakfast Meeting of choir and orchestra conductors with representatives of the city of Prague. Opening concert of the festival. Competition for choirs and orchestras (the ensembles not participating in the competition will take a city tour or can watch the formations in competition) Dinner at the place of accommodation. Evening meeting. Night at the hotel. 

 

Saturday 25.03.2023

Breakfast. Concerts and performances in the center of Prague and/or churches. Festive parade in the city with the common composition for all the choristers. Dinner at the place of accommodation. In the evening, award ceremony and dance party. Night at the hotel.

 

Sunday 26.03.2023

Breakfast.  Departure of the choristers and end of the event.
